CAP Life Skills
CAP Life Skills is an 8-week course aimed at supporting those on a low income.
People who go on the course find it helps them to build both their skills and confidence making them better able to cope with the pressures of daily living.
The course covers such areas as
- shopping and cooking on a budget
- money management
- lifestyle and relationships
- building healthy self esteem
- general organisational skills
It is not just a teaching course but very much a sharing of skills and experiences.
The course was devised by Christians Against Poverty and the course co-ordinators at Poole Christian Fellowship are Jo Wiltshire and Martine Smith.
Martine has four children and so knows about the pressures and expense of family life!
Before retirement, Jo worked as an Occupational Therapist. She now works part-time and enjoys spending her spare time with friends and family, or volunteering for the church and CAP centre.
Martine works part time, while studying for an Open University degree and managing her family as a single mum. She also brings her current experience of bringing up children to PCF’s parenting course
