John and Gez in Aber

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

John MacDiarmid and Gez Jones were privileged with work with the Aberystwyth Christian Union for their mission week “Do you Know Him”. A series of  social events, informal lunchbars and gospel talks exposed the University campus to the good news about Jesus. Many contacts were made, many were challenged about the relevance of Jesus to their lives and we hear of individuals trusting Christ for the first time.

Thanks to the CU at Aber for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this exciting event and to all at PCF for their prayer support. Continue to pray that the seeds sown will bear fruit, and for the CU as they follow up on all the contacts made.

Towards Housegroups

“Towards Housegroup”

Now that the month of prayer is behind us we are ready to move into a new season of church life.

The plan is to break the church down into small groups for local church life to flourish.  In order to prepare ourselves for this we will meet together as a whole church  on Tuesday evenings at Lagland Street from 8.00pm to 9.30pm.  These meetings will be called “Towards Housegroup”.

During these times together we will be exploring together the workings of small groups within the local church with a view to moving into a new structure of church life at the end of the series.  These evenings will be informal, informative and fun!

The dates of the meetings will be as follows:

                                                            9th February

                                                         23rd February

                                                            9th March

                                                         23rd March

(alternate Tuesdays we will meet for prayer)

This series is for everyone connected with the church whether members or not.  We hope everyone will be there.

Thank you to Nigel and David

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

3 January was an important day in  the life of PCF. After serving for many years on the eldership of the church Nigel Green and David Foster have stepped down from their positions and leave John, Nick and Richard to continue the leadership.

After the main Sunday meeting the church enjoyed a bring and share lunch and there was a brief presentation at which Nigel and David were thanked and, along with their wives, Ruby and Pauline, given tokens of our appreciation and thanks.

A  full tribute to Nigel and David is in the  January 2010 bulletin.

Mario Lambros

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I have to tell you that our dear friend, Mario Lambros, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, 30 December 2009. Barbie was with him when he went into the presence of the Lord.

Mario had been ill for a long time and had clearly articulated his faith in Jesus and that he was ready to go. In our personal sadness, and our sharing with Barbie in her loss, we rejoice that Mario is now safely at home with the Lord.

The funeral will be at PCF on Thursday 14th January at 1.30pm. In the meantime we stand with Barbie and the rest of the family in prayer that God’s love will comfort her and fill her heart with his comfort.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116 v.15)

John and Helen at Aberystwyth University CU Houseparty

Monday, November 9th, 2009

John and Helen were delighted to be at the Aberystwyth University Christian Union Houseparty at Bala in North Wales.  John spoke four times on the subject “Alive in Christ” and the students listened courteously and attentively – and even managed to laugh dutifully in the right places!

We were really struck with the genuine commitment and concern for God’s work that characterised this lively and slightly nutty group of young adults. It was a real privilege for us to be there and to share with them. The future for God’s work looks bright!  Two of our own young people, Pete MacDiarmid and Lee Dutfield, were very much in evidence making their contribution to the weekend.

It was a great occasion and a wonderful group of young Christians.  John returns to Aberystwyth next month to speak at the University Carol Service and also in the new year for the Mission. Thanks to everyone who has prayed. You have made a real contribution – please continue to remember the forthcoming events.

Fellowship, Food and Water

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The church family had a great day together on Sunday 1 November 2009. We met together in our normal way at 10.30 and enjoyed praising the Lord together and hearing his word. We were also delighted to welcome in the church membership Hilda and Wilmor Lott.

A bring and share lunch then followed, as all ages tucked into the usual abundant PCF provision. As always the grub was great – with the usual dilemma of what to do with the leftovers.

We were then delighted to open the baptistry and had the great joy of baptising Tracey White and Kim Morris. We rejoiced together in God’s goodness to them and were delighted to welcome friends and family who had come to witness their baptism.

A great church family day together – may there be many more!

Dedicating Baby Caitlyn

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

It was a delight to dedicate baby Caitlyn Abraham to the Lord at our Sunday morning meeting.

We prayed for her, and for her parents, Joe and Malini, and look forward to seeing God’s blessing on her life as she grows.

New Forest Leaders’ Conference

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

The PCF  leaders had an AwayDay in the New Forest on Saturday  10 October 2009.

Andrew Parfitt brought ministry from the Word of God and the leaders were encouraged and challenged as they heard Andrew’s ministry and considered some priorities for us as a church.
